Today the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) announced a best practices competition called “Conquering the Cloud Challenge” to find the most innovative cloud-related practices by corporations and institutions. The grand prize, $10,000, will be awarded to the entry selected by a panel of expert judges: Jan Drake, Disney Corporation; Ben Kepes, industry analyst; Frank Gens, IDC; Jeff Perdue, Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley; and Ravi Subramaniam, Intel. There are also four category prizes and crowd favorite prizes available.

Intel’s “Master of Curiosity” social media game launched today as part of Intel’s sponsorship of the new Discovery Channel series, “Curiosity: The Questions of Life.” The landmark series explores a range of topics, including intelligence, neuroscience and nanotechnology. A first-of-its-kind investment for Intel, “Curiosity” is being used by Intel as a global marketing platform with key partnership elements. The integration spans, the exclusive online platform, and also Curiosity’s education initiatives with Discovery Education, as well as comprehensive social, mobile and marketing programs. A new game will launch weekly to coincide with the latest topic of the “Curiosity” episodes, which air at 8 p.m. ET and PT Sundays in the United States. The series expands worldwide this fall.

Intel Corporation, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors Corp. and C&S Technology announced a collaboration to develop next generation in-vehicle infotainment platforms based on the Intel® Atom™ processor. These platforms will bring new services and content, such as location-based applications, social networking capabilities and entertainment, to both drivers and passengers in future Hyundai and Kia vehicles. In addition, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corp. will upgrade select IVI systems with the Intel® Atom™  processor to add more intelligent and innovative capabilities.
