Intel Capital has made a strategic investment in 10gen, the MongoDB company. MongoDB bridges the gap between relational database management systems and key-value stores - instead of storing data in tables and rows, MongoDB stores data in documents with dynamic schemas. Thousands of organizations of all sizes are using MongoDB for a range of scenarios including operational intelligence, content management, product data management, high volume data feeds, user data management, Hadoop and more. 10gen will use the funds to further invest in product development for MongoDB and to better support its rapidly growing community and user base worldwide. The funding agreement marks Intel Capital's first investment in the NoSQL market. For more information check out the press release (PDF 744KB).
