In today's featured TED Talk, Intel Fellow and GM Eric Dishman calls into question our current approach to healthcare. In college he suffered a fainting spell and ended up in the hospital. He was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease and given only a few years to live. But for 25 years his rare disease was wrongly diagnosed. And it took a genomic test to put his doctors on the right course and a coworker he had never met to save his life – by giving him the kidney he never thought his body could accept. He discusses how he took his future into his own hands and learned all he could about his illness and his options, refusing to be a "passive" patient. Enjoy this powerful and insightful TED talk.
