Today, the Top500 list of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, announced at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC'13) in Germany, revealed a new leader: the "Milky Way 2" system powered by 32,000 Intel® Xeon® processors and 48,000 Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors. Intel technology also powered more than 80 percent of all listed systems, including 98 percent of the newly added supercomputers. During the conference, Raj Hazra, Intel vice president and general manager of the Technical Computing Group, also announced the new Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors and disclosed the first details of the next generation of this technology, codenamed "Knights Landing", featuring Intel's leading 14nm process technology.
