On March 26th, Barron's cover story featured its annual list of the world's 30 best CEOs. Barrons' staff selects the 30 leaders, drawing on feedback from investors, analysts and executives. Criteria include stock-price performance, global perspective and entrepreneurial spirit as well as return to customers, employees and investors. According to the weekly financial newspaper, Intel CEO Paul Otellini was named for "stepping boldly into the wireless world", his customer orientation, and making Intel "relevant again -- and less reliant on personal computers."

Computerworld recognizes Malcolm Harkins, Intel VP and Chief Information Security Officer, as one of Computerworld's 2012 Premier 100 IT Leaders, an award which honors individuals who guide the effective use of information technology to improve their company's business performance. Harkins distinguished himself by implementing a novel approach to enterprise security at Intel, that balances business growth with reasonable levels of risk mitigation. As a result, Intel maintains a secure environment while embracing new usage models, such as social media and BYOD.

On January 10th at 4:30 p.m., Intel CEO Paul Otellini will deliver a keynote address at CES 2012. "Intel is at the forefront of the mobile revolution, powering computing, communications and entertainment platforms that are bringing amazing new experiences to consumers around the world," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association. "We are thrilled to welcome Paul Otellini back to the CES keynote stage to share his strategic vision for Intel and the future of consumer technology."

Intel was selected by Computerworld as a Top-Green-IT Vendor for 2011. Computerworld identified 12 organizations that are reducing energy consumption in IT equipment and using technology to conserve energy and lower carbon emissions. Today the University of Washington launched an exciting program that we hope will help trigger a new technology revolution around integrated silicon photonics chips. This program, which we call OpSIS (Optoelectronics Systems Integration in Silicon), will provide a silicon photonics wafer service to give researchers the ability to design and build experimental optical chips.
