Intel released Intel® Media SDK 2012 R2, now supporting Blu-ray MVC, stereoscopic (two-view) video.  The new SDK also includes an Open CL sample, allowing developers to make the most of resources available on Intel platforms by supporting the newly released Intel® SDK for OpenCL Applications 2012 on both Intel processors and Intel® HD Graphics. Providing developers with a simple API to create media applications using Intel® Quick Sync Video, the SDK can enable hardware acceleration to significantly speed up media conversion on 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors. Developers can download a free copy of Intel® Media SDK 2012 R2.

Intel released a new version of Intel® Concurrent Collections for C++, a library which helps developers write and tune parallel software. Version 0.7 enables developers to deploy applications seamlessly on either a single Intel multicore workstation or a cluster of workstations, providing developers a way for the developer to easily control the execution of their application, offering greater potential for parallelism, scalability and productivity. Intel Concurrent Collections for C++ is available for Windows and Linux as a free download through the Intel Software Network.

In support of 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ processors, today Intel announced the Intel® SDK for OpenCL Applications 2012. The latest addition to Intel’s line of tools and APIs, the software development kit (SDK) gives developers more programming options on Intel platforms, enabling them to improve application performance and create better user experiences. OpenCL provides consumer video, media, 3D and other visual computing applications an additional capability to make the most of Intel processors and Intel® HD Graphics. Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications 2012 is available to developers as a free download.

Intel AppUpSM center is working with Urban Airship™ to help provide app developers the ability to monetize apps beyond the initial sale to drive ongoing consumer engagement and recurring revenue with Intel AppUp In-App Purchase. Over 40,000 application developers worldwide use Urban Airship’s scalable infrastructure and easy-to-integrate tools to monetize their apps, and now Urban Airship’s developers can reach an expanded base of Ultrabook™ device, netbook, and PC consumers through the Intel AppUp center.

To help address the growing need for more precise and efficient management of data center power consumption and utilization, Intel and Dell worked together to introduce the advanced version of OpenManage Power Center in the latest generation Dell PowerEdge servers based on Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600. Dell OpenManage Power Center utilizes real-time power and thermal monitoring and management data available via Intel® Data Center Manager (DCM) and Intel® Node Manager. Wind River today introduced Wind River Linux Performance Studio for Intel® Architecture (IA), integrating the latest generation of IA-optimized embedded development tools from Intel with Wind River Linux 4. The Wind River Linux Performance Studio for Intel Architecture includes the Intel® C++ Compiler, Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives and Intel® VTune™ Amplifier XE. The suite helps make it easier for embedded developers to boost performance and power savings as well as increase the reliability of system and application code by taking advantage of the latest capabilities in embedded Intel® Atom™, Intel® Core™, and Intel® Xeon® processors.

Intel released an updated version of Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzers (GPA), the latest release of its powerful application developer tool suite used to analyze and optimize games and media applications. Intel GPA 4.3 features Frame and Erg Advisors that identify potential issues, platform analyzer updates that allow users to display task states along with the ability to filter application programming interface (API) details. App lovers can now go to Sprint.com and download apps from the Intel AppUpSM center. Sprint is the first wireless provider in the U.S.  offering Intel AppUp center to their customers. Intel just launched its Level Up 2011 Game Demo Contest, providing independent and student game developers an opportunity to show off their skills and pwn the competition. Today Intel introduced new web service security and secure cloud single-sign on (SSO) capabilities core to enabling the Cloud Service Brokerage usage model in the 2011 Gartner Cloud Security Hype Cycle. Central to this emerging model is the ability to mediate and authenticate application services and user interactions from the enterprise to the cloud, or cloud to cloud. The Intel Cloud Access 360 product now includes an SSO portal providing a single access point for users to launch cloud applications. Intel Services Gateway delivers new cloud API management and high-assurance security certifications. These capabilities are included within the McAfee Cloud Security Platform update announced today.

Today, Intel joined Linux Foundation and LiMo Foundation™ in support of Tizen™, a new Linux-based open source software platform for multiple device categories. The standards-based Tizen project will be hosted at the Linux Foundation and offer an operating system and a robust, flexible standards-based HTML5 and WAC web development environment within which device-independent apps can be produced. Tizen builds upon the strengths of both LiMo and MeeGo and Intel will be working with our MeeGo partners to help them transition to Tizen. The initial release of Tizen is expected in Q1’2012, enabling the first devices in the market mid-2012.
