This year marks the 10th anniversary of Chromebooks. Ongoing partnerships involving Intel, Google and the broader Chrome ecosystem continue to deliver innovative, cloud-first PC experiences with Chromebooks powered by Intel — from use in classrooms to go-anywhere connectivity for work and gaming.

Since the first device was introduced in 2011, an entire ecosystem has evolved and more than 100 million Chromebooks1 have made their way into the world for students and educators, general consumers and businesses. Over those 10 years, Intel has worked closely with Google and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to enable more than 100 Intel-based Chromebook designs2 and drive new areas of innovation.
Recently, Intel has continued to evolve those experiences with:
- 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics, optimized to deliver the best experience for Chromebooks.
- Thunderbolt™, Intel’s universal cable connectivity solution for data, video and power, coming to Chromebooks this year in Intel® Evo™ platform-verified designs.
- Intel® Celeron® and Intel® Pentium® Silver processors coming to market this spring in OEM designs for education.
- The Modern Computing Alliance, co-founded by Intel, bringing together hardware and software leaders to deliver new, industry-level innovation to Google’s Chrome commercial ecosystem.
Looking ahead to the next decade and beyond, Intel is excited to continue expanding its partnership with Google to raise the bar for what users can expect in the Chrome ecosystem. Happy birthday, Chrome OS!
