SAN DIEGO, BEA eWORLD 2002 CONFERENCE, Feb. 26, 2002 — Intel Corporation and BEA Systems, Inc. today announced new details of their alliance, including Intel’s support for BEA’s new Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and commitment to work closely together to optimize BEA’s JVM to help enable superior performance of the BEA WebLogic(R) Enterprise Platform(TM) on Intel(R) Xeon(TM) and Intel(R) Itanium(TM)-based servers. The alliance addresses customer demand for more choice of platforms for high-performing and scalable Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) enterprise software solutions. BEA’s new JVM, based on the JRockit technology BEA acquired from Appeal Virtual Machines announced yesterday, will enable superior performance of BEA’s software on Intel Architecture-compatible operating systems, including Microsoft Windows and Linux.
