Postcard from Auto Shanghai: Let Your Passengers Game While You Drive
Intel’s in-vehicle gaming solution packs enough computing to power in-vehicle AAA gaming for passengers.
To: All drivers with game-loving passengers
From: Auto Shanghai 2025, Shanghai, China | April 23, 2025
Do your passengers fancy playing a AAA-titled PC game in the comfort of your car, powered by your car?
With future software-defined vehicles, that vision is a step closer to reality. In one memorable demo that drew large crowds to the Intel booth here at Auto Shanghai 2025, visitors experienced Intel’s in-vehicle AAA-gaming solution powered by the Intel® Automotive SoC platform (Malibou Lake) and an Intel® Arc™ A760A graphics processing unit.
The hardware tech compartmentalized inside the vehicle runs on Intel's unique Linux-in-container technology. It allows carmakers and vehicle cockpit developers to run both Windows-based and Linux-based AAA games on the in-car entertainment displays without any loss in image quality.
The demo in the Intel booth plays on a 4K screen at 60 frames per second – realistic enough to make passengers feel like drivers who need to keep their hands on the wheel at all times.
