Dr. Andrea J. Goldsmith
President and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Stony Brook University
Dr. Andrea J. Goldsmith joined Intel Corporation’s board of directors in September 2021. Goldsmith is an independent director.
She serves as President of Stony Brook University and a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She served as dean of Engineering and Applied Science and the Arthur LeGrand Doty Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Princeton University from 2020 to 2025.
Prior to joining Princeton, Goldsmith was the Stephen Harris Professor of Engineering and professor of electrical engineering at Stanford University, where she served on the faculty from 1999 to 2020. In 2010, Goldsmith co-founded and served as the chief technology officer at Plume (formerly Accelera Inc.), a provider of software-defined wireless networking technology. In 2005, Goldsmith co-founded and served as chief technology officer for Quantenna Communications (formerly mySource Communications Inc.), a producer of silicon chipsets designed for high-speed wireless networking.
Goldsmith has served since 2018 on the board of Crown Castle Inc. She previously served on the board of Medtronic PLC from March 2019 to October 2025. She also served on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) from 2021 to 2025. Goldsmith is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the Wireless History Foundation’s Wireless Hall of Fame, the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and the Silicon Valley Hall of Fame. She is a recipient of the Marconi Prize and the IEEE Dresselhaus medal for her contributions to wireless technology.
